Tim's biography

Tim Kastning was born and raised in the Great Northwest and has lived in Idaho for 33 years.  Tim married Karen in 1985 and together they have raised two sons and six daughters. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1978-1982.  Tim graduated from Baptist Bible College with a degree in Theology in 1987.   He is also a “graduate” of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce’s “Leadership Coeur d’Alene” program in 2008.  

Tim has been an independent business owner since 1985, owning several arboricultural businesses, including Grace Tree Service, which he owned for 30 years.  He sold that business and now owns an arboricultural consulting business.  As a result of his expertise, he has served on numerous arboricultural boards, including the Idaho State Community Forest Advisory Council and the City of Coeur d’Alene Community Forestry Advisory Council and the Post Falls Urban Forestry Advisory Council.

Tim was elected to the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee in 2016.  He was the Chairman of the KCRCC legislative district 2, served on the KCRCC Legislative, budget and elections committees.  He was the North Idaho campaign director for Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin’s successful campaign. In 2019, Tim Kastning became Congressman Russ Fulcher’s Northern Idaho Regional Director. He resigned that position in order to run for District Two, Seat 2B in the Idaho state legislature.
